JONES BRIDGE SOCCER’S U14 BREAKERS GO TO STATE

Posted by admin on June 6, 2010  |  No Comments

This year Jones Bridge Soccer’s (JBS) U14 Breakers won Georgia’s fall cup in November with one team, and swept through their spring season undefeated with a brand new young team.  They scored an unprecedented 64 goals with only 2 goals against winning their Division.  Then the Breakers won their District May 16-17 against the mighty SDY Jaguars to go to the State Championship in Columbus May 22-23, 2010.

The Spring 2010 Breakers are: Brooke Adams, Laura Braden, Katelyn Carpenter, Brittany and Colette Collins, Christa Davoll, Sarah Doverspike, Amanda Gilmore, Victoria Haney, Abby Jordan, Deanna Lanham, Ellie Lester, Regan Lochmandy, Taylor Panther, Rene Rindik, Sophie Ryland, McKinley Smoke, Elizabeth Waid, Lauren Watts, and Coach Andrew Collins.

In the state round they faced off with the KFC Tigers in a 3-0 victory.  In game two they beat the Villa Rica Chargers 1-0, and in game three beat the Hinesville Gators on Sunday morning 2-1.  Making it to the championship game Sunday afternoon was a feat for this brand new team.  Battling the older and former select LSA Jaguars, the final game ended in a 0-3 loss for the Breakers, leaving them the second ranked team in Georgia.

The Breakers play out of Jones Bridge Park on East Jones Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners.  JBS was affiliated with Georgia Soccer two years ago, and is growing strong as they welcome the following five new teams to the club:  two U12 girls teams, the U14 Lady Shockers Nation, the U16 Lady Shockers Nation, and the U16 Breakers.  The club plans to have a boys and girls league for Fall 2010 with the addition of five new girls teams.  For more information go to www.pbcsports.net or leave a message on the hotline # 678-587-8889.

Tavani Soccer Summer Camps at Duluth Parks

Posted by admin on May 11, 2010  |  No Comments

The camps have grown in popularity each year and this year we offer players six weeks of action at three different locations (Jefferson Parks & Recreation, South Forsyth’s Sharon Springs Park and Duluth’s Bunten Road Park).

The camps are for boys & girls, ages 7-15. Also, back this year is the Elite camp from 12 noon – 1:30 pm (after camp at the Duluth Bunten location), which is for the serious player who wants more soccer action (boys & girls, ages 10-15).

The camp staff is an experienced mix of top club and high school coaches along with college players. All of the college players were once coached by camp director and Georgia Coach of the Year, Gregg  Tavani, and serve as role models to the young, aspiring campers.

Tavani Soccer goals are to increase young players’ skills, further develop each camper into a better player, and most of all make it a fun experience.

A goalkeeper coach is on staff.

The camp schedule is designed to be both intense and fun at the same time.
Experienced players will be challenged and beginning players will fall in love with the “beautiful game”.
Players are divided and assigned to a coach according to age and skill.

Tavani Soccer Camps

RHODES JORDAN PARK UNDERGOES RENOVATION AND EXPANSION

Posted by admin on April 21, 2010  |  No Comments

Recently commissioners approved a major renovation and expansion project for one of Gwinnett County’s oldest and most centrally-located parks. Visitors to Rhodes Jordan Park will benefit from the addition of a one-mile paved multi-purpose trail and boardwalk around the perimeter of the existing lake, a new restroom building and new parking. In addition, the old picnic pavilions will be replaced and new soccer fields, outdoor basketball courts and horseshoe courts will be added to the park.

Rhodes Jordan Park is a partnership between the City of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County that dates back to 1991 when the two groups entered into a long-term lease agreement. “This project fulfills Gwinnett County’s long-standing commitment to improve and expand the recreational opportunities at Rhodes Jordan Park,” said District 4 Commissioner Kevin Kenerly.

“Gwinnett County is dedicated to providing a better quality-of-life for our citizens while making every effort to reduce short- and long-term operational costs,” said Commission Chairman Charles Bannister. “This renovation will make Rhodes Jordan Park an even more attractive asset while lowering our long-term maintenance costs.” Bannister cited a few examples, including a new pump system that will use lake water to irrigate ball fields, replacement of older, deteriorating facilities that  require more upkeep, and a stream restoration project to reduce siltation and maintenance expense.

Park safety is another major consideration in the park renovation project and new routing for the park’s main drive will improve vehicular and pedestrian safety.

Gwinnett County awarded the project to the lowest of 13 bidders, CRS Building Corporation, for $7.3 million. Funding comes from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

JONES BRIDGE SOCCER: NEW NAME, NEW LOOK, NEW FORMAT

Posted by admin on December 19, 2009  |  No Comments

Jones Bridge Soccer

Jones Bridge Soccer (JBS) is the new name for Peachtree Booster Club’s soccer program.  The soccer league is located at Jones Bridge Park on East Jones Bridge Road, in Peachtree Corners near the Forum shopping center.  It was affiliated in 2008 with Georgia State Soccer Association (GSSA).  JBS teams may participate in GSSA tournaments:  the fall cup and spring State Championship, and other tournaments.  JBS’s U14 Girls Breakers won the state’s fall championship, the Kohl’s Cup, in November.

Registration for spring soccer starts in January.  Look for registration flyers in your children’s school bags.  Players aged 2-4 are may register for the Preschool “Superstars” Program, and players aged 5-12 may register for the Recreational Program.

Since it’s affiliation with GSSA, JBS uses the Kicking Is Not Soccer (KINS) program created by GSSA.  These are small-sided games where players get maximum touches on the ball, thus enhancing their soccer skills.  Parents love seeing their children get a lot of time with the ball, and kids love the small fields because they get to score more and feel successful.

JBS is a rec league only.  For the modern student who has multiple activities JBS’s schedule of one practice and one game per week is a perfect complement for the busy student.  JBS would also like to recruit enough girls for the spring season to have a separate girls and boys leagues.

At JBS, skills, fun, and sportsmanship are emphasized.  It is fun competition without politics and pressure.  Many parents agree that for the money, convenience, and pressure-free environment of playing in Peachtree Corners, that JBS is a great value, and who couldn’t use that?

Jones Bridge Soccer’s U14 Breakers Win 2009 Kohl’s Cup

Posted by admin on November 18, 2009  |  No Comments

Jones Bridge

Jones Bridge

Jones Bridge Soccer’s (JBS) U14 Breakers won their second Kohl’s American Cup November 15.  On Saturday they tied the first game with Jefferson Football Club 2-2.  The second game versus the Columbus Girls Inc. was a sound victory 9-0.  The Breakers cinched their place for the final game with a victory against the Fayette County Wildcats 6-0 in game three.  The final game versus the Henry County Sidekicks was a physical game resulting in two injured Breakers.

The first score of the final game came relatively early for the Breakers and then a hard fought battle ensued.  In the last 10 seconds of the game the Sidekicks were awarded a penalty kick which tied the game.  The game went into 10 minutes overtime where the Breakers held the line.  The game was decided in a 5 PK (penalty kick) shootout which gave the Breakers the victory 2-1!

The Breakers play with JBS out of Jones Bridge Park on East Jones Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners.  The club is formerly known as Peachtree Booster Club Soccer.  Congratulations to the mighty Breakers!
