Grayson holds “throw-arounds” every Sunday in November giving beginners and experienced boys and girls players, ages 7-18 an opportunity to experience a bit of Lacrosse. You kid gets a chance to learn lacrosse basics and meet other players in the Grayson community. The Grayson Athletic Association (GAA) and Grayson High School Lacrosse will be available for instructions and to answer questions about Lacrosse.

The GAA encourages parents are encouraged to watch and participate in the throw-around clinic – to be able to work with their kids at home. The more time your player spends with the stick in their hands, the better they will be!

Mill Creek Girls 15U Win County’s Lacrosse Championship

Mill Creek 15U Girls Team in Lacrosse

Mill Creek 15U Girls Team in Lacrosse

Lacrosse is officially in Gwinnett. The inaugural league for Lacrosse in Gwinnett County and all the county teams played in the Gwinnett Lacrosse League.

Tom Higgins, coach of Mill Creek High School Lacrosse teams, was instrumental in helping to bring Lacrosse to Gwinnett County. Coaches for Mill Creek’s 15U team which won the county championship were: Mark Schlueter, Ron Grimes (not pictured) and Dave Sackett. Below is a list of team names and jersey numbers.  Results for other teams can be found at their website: http://www.gwinnettlacrosseleague.com

1    Kaley    Barrett
2    Hannah    Bentti
3    Paxton    Cochran
4    Autumn    Grimes
5    Rachael    Hoag
6    Abby    Hood
7    Courtney    LaFevers
8    Rachel    Norton

Angie Barrett, a photographer and mom of one of the team girls said, “All of our girls were new to the sport, as I believe most other teams as well, but they learned so much and had really improved by the end of the season. The county park directors held lacrosse camps prior to the season starting back in the winter to help the kids get familiar with the game.  Mill Creek teams played in our new home park, Duncan Creek Park, here in the Hamilton Mill area. Grayson and Peachtree Ridge also played in new parks.  It was a great first season of Lacrosse for Gwinnett county and I have already heard of new players wanting to play in the next season. Prior to this season, the kids had to play in other neighboring counties that had lacrosse established, if they wanted to play. I believe this sport will really grow quickly in Gwinnett County now after word has gotten out about this season.”
