Great Days of Service Volunteer Day

2011 Gwinnett Senior Golden Games are underway!


The 2011 Gwinnett Senior Golden Games opening ceremony was held at Rhodes Jordan Park with the presentation of the Olympic Torch by Irene Rice. The games are set to start on April 14 and will conclude with the closing ceremony on May 25, 11:00am at Rhodes Jordan Park. Competitions will be held in more than 25 different games, with winners advancing to the state games.  Activities include from bocce ball to tennis, horseshoes to darts and cycling.

Competition in the various events will be held at different venues all across Gwinnett. For more information about the schedule of games, you can call 678.546.8722. The purpose of the games is to provide senior (age 50 and above) with an opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting and leisure activities and meet new people.

The Games are sponsored by the generous contributions from various local firms and are in partnership with Gwinnett County Parks & Recreational Department.

Park Renovations – 2011


Portions of natural surface trails at George Pierce Park are temporarily closed for renovation. Trails under renovation are expected to reopen in spring/summer of 2011.
Rhodes Jordan Park will undergo a renovation June, 2010 through Summer, 2011. The pavilions, playgrounds and portions of the walking trail will be closed. The Community Recreation Center, pool and sports fields will remain open.
