Winter Hockey at Pinckneyville Park (Girls and Boys)

Posted by admin on October 10, 2009  |  1 Comment

WINTER HOCKEY SEASON: Registration is now open for our winter roller hockey season. This will be the first season in our new covered facility and it promises to be the most exciting yet. Practices will begin November 2nd, and games begin December 5th. The cost is $115 for the 12 game season, and includes an individual trophy and team jersey. Hockey safety equipment is required, but is not furnished. Coaches and league officials can assist new players in getting the proper equipment to play.

For those who are not familiar with it, roller hockey is a fast-paced sport that combines speed, agility and teamwork. Unlike ice hockey, there is no checking or rough play involved. Youth roller hockey is sponsored by the Peachtree Booster Club, and is open to both boys and girls, ages 5 – 15. To register, visit our website at www.pbcsports.org.

This year, our Winter Hockey season will inagurate the NEW RINK. Construction on the new hockey rink cover at Pinckneyville Park is scheduled to be completed in early October. The new roller hockey facility will feature an open air roof, a new sport tile surface, new dasher boards and plexiglass, and several other improvements.

GIRLS ROLLER HOCKEY: Yes, hockey players can wear pink! The Peachtree Booster Club is seeking girls ages 6-14 for our upcoming winter roller hockey season. No experience is necessary – just a love of skating and a desire to play the exciting sport of roller hockey. Those who register will be placed on a team with the goal of fielding an all girl team in each division. (It’s important to note that these girls teams will compete against the boys during the 2009 winter season.)

Roller hockey is a fast-paced sport that combines speed, agility and teamwork. Unlike ice hockey, there is no checking or rough play involved. Skating skills, coordination and determination are the keys to success in roller hockey. All girls who are interested in playing should register on our website – www.pbcsports.org.

STREET CATS: Need a great exercise program for your 3 – 6 year old? Check out Street Cats, our new street hockey program for kids who are not yet ready for roller hockey. The Street Cats will play street hockey in sneakers, using a stick and a ball, at the new covered hockey rink at Pinckneyville Park. Cost is $85, and all protective equipment will be provided. There will be a 10 game season with practices approximately once a week. Street Cats will learn how to skate as part of the practicing associated with this program. To sign up, visit our website - www.pbcsports.org.
