CELEBRATE NICKELODEON WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY

Nickelodeon Day of Play

Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation joins Nickelodeon, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Girls on the Run, Girl Scouts of the USA, Kiwanis International/Key Club, National Park Foundation, NFL Play 60, President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, US Paralympics, USA Ultimate and the many other participating organizations in celebrating Nickelodeon’s 11th annual Worldwide Day of Play on Saturday, September 20 at various parks throughout the county. Every year, Nickelodeon goes completely dark for three hours on Worldwide Day of Play, taking programming off the air on all of its channels and shutting down its websites to reinforce one simple message: Get up, get out, and go play!

There are events planned at several parks including the Skate Day of Play at Bay Creek Park on Saturday, September 20 from 1 – 4 p.m. with a skate demo, skate contest, best trick contest, prizes, hot dogs and more. At Bogan Park, kids can join the fun at the Shop and Play Fun Day with free games, inflatables and other fun kid’s activities from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., while the parents shop at the indoor yard and craft sale. The Fall Fling and Yard Sale is at George Pierce Park with games, inflatables, face painting and other outdoor activities for the kids from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. while parents can look for treasures at the yard sale. Visit www.gwinnettparks.com for more information on these and other events.
