HOLIDAY MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA AT PINCKNEYVILLE PARK COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER


On Dec. 2, Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center is hosting the Holiday Musical Extravaganza in collaboration with Duluth Middle School and other featured guests. The event will showcase local youth talent designed to bring holiday cheer to everyone. This youthful musical ensemble will capture your heart and bring true appreciation for the performing arts through performances including dance, vocal and instrumental selections.

The Honor Band is a community outreach program of the Duluth Middle School Band, led by Ryan Bertram. These students play the most challenging music as well as exploring a variety of popular music styles such as jazz, rock, swing and more. The emcee for the evening will be author and speaker Chris Maxwell. His motivational words and inspirational writings welcome us into a community that guides us to a wholesome togetherness. Another lovely addition to the program is a performance by the graceful and talented, Debbie’s Dancers, which will feature a mix of ballet and swing dances to holiday music. A total of seven delightful featured performances are waiting to showcase their love for the Holidays through their musical performances.

The Holiday Musical Extravaganza will be held on Dec. 2, from 6 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., admission is $8. A LITTLE SUNSHINE ART EXHIBIT at Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center


Little Sunshine Art Show

Does the recent snow and cold weather leave you longing for the warmth of spring sunshine?

Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation’s Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center is sponsoring a free art exhibit of pen and ink drawings by Eileen Wilson titled “A Little Sunshine

Wilson began her painting career in Pittsburgh, PA. She studied many art techniques including oils, watercolor, stain glass and pen and ink.

Now a resident of Duluth, GA, Wilson’s favorite genre has become making memories of homes, wildlife and nature scenes. Her art is featured on everything from note cards to tiles and images.

An opening Artist Reception will be held Thurs., Feb. 10, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.  The full exhibit will be on display Feb. 5 through April 29. Exhibit hours are Mon. – Thurs. 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Fri. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sat. 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at Pinckneyville Park Community Center


Drop dead gorgeous meets “Miss Congeniality in an original murder mystery dinner event, entitled “Hula Killed the Beauty Queen…Yet Again”. For three nights only, April 30, May 1 and May 7 at Gwinnett County Park & Recreation’s Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center.

The $25 admission price includes an interactive murder mystery show plus a Hawaiian dinner buffet featuring salad, pulled pork, rolls, sweet potatoes, assorted fruits, pineapple upside-down cake and raspberry tea. All guests will receive a complimentary lei and can also enjoy the non-alcoholic Tiki bar.

After the Hawaiian feast, audiences can sit back and enjoy the shenanigans that occur during the “nationally televised” Miss Hula Girl of the Year pageant. Somewhere between the fitness routine, evening wear, talent, and interview sections, a very public murder sparks pageant gossip and accusations that only the audience can sort in the end.

Some of the well known performers in Gwinnett County appearing will be Tanya Carroll, the Artistic Director for Lionheart Theatre; James Beck, the Creator of Onion Man Productions and its Harvest Festival for new plays; Chuck Mason, Board Member for New Dawn Theatre Company, Jason Caldwell, Catherine Barrow, Michael Stamm and Barbara Bruce. There will also be a guest appearance by Bahama Lynch, Education Artist at the Shakespeare Tavern.

Back by popular demand, Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation’s Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center will host their annual Hometown Christmas Craft Fair & Potter’s Gift Shop on Sat., Nov. 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – the perfect place to find that unique holiday gift this year.

This free indoor craft fair features jewelry, gift baskets, hand-sewed items, and more! What started off as a local community event has grown over the years to include new crafters with unique one-of-a kind crafts and items. While the adults have fun shopping, children under 12 can create their own masterpiece make-and-take craft.

. The Potter’s Gift Shop features a host of versatile handmade items by Pinckneyville’s very own pottery students. From funk to classic, you are sure to find something special. “The craftsmanship of the items made are truly phenomenal” says Raven Miller, Recreation Leader at Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center. “Last year we had candles and edible spices that filled the room with such fragrance, and jewelry that was so amazing. The amount of professionalism and hard work put into the crafts is truly a sight to see and definitely worth coming out to view.”
