Lightning Spikes Track Club

Lightning Spikes

I recently posted information about the Lightning Spikes Track Club. The following is an update to my previous post.

The Lightning Spikes Track Club (LSTC) is a Gwinnett based track club that provides track and field opportunities for youth ages 6 -18.  LSTC’s goals are to encourage and help young people develop physically, emotionally and socially through their involvement in track and field.  LSTC has been in existence since August 2008.  In their inaugural season, LSTC exceeded all expectations to include qualifying over half of their athletes for the Junior Olympics Regional qualifying meets with 10 athletes advancing to the Junior Olympics which were held in Des Moines, Iowa.  LSTC’s provides year round training and their home track is at Berkmar High school.  Please visit LSTC’s website (www.lightningspikes.com) where you can obtain additional information about the Club, registration fees, training calendar, etc.  You can also send questions to Questions@lightningspikes.com or you may contact any of the club officers for additional information at:

Youth Track and Field in Gwinnett

Someone just recently posted a question about youth Track and Field in Gwinnett.  It seems most times the schools are the best place to start. My son just started Cross Country for the first time at Norcross High School. He had a good time, ran at least 4 miles a day (sometimes 7-8) and competed on the weekends at different 5K events. He enjoined it and built up some great friendships – he intends to continue in the spring in track and fields and then run through the summer program with the other boys. By the fall he’ll be ready for Cross Country again.

In the mean time to answer the youth running question. Outside of the high schools and some middles school you can try:

Lightning Spikes

Registration for the 2010 Season Begins November 21, 2009. Registration will be held at Berkmar High School between 12pm-2pm. Download and complete registration forms off their site.
