Duluth’s newest event “NO REASON BLOCK PARTY” on the Town Green

ARE YOU READY TO HAVE SOME FUN? The City of Duluth is pleased to announce a new event named the “No Reason Block Party”! The public is invited to party on the beautiful Town Green in Downtown Duluth the second Thursday of each month from July to October with family, friends, neighbors and members of the community! Look for the big white tent on Main Street! This event will include live entertainment, family-friendly activities and food/drink vendors.  This is a FREE event but a nominal fee will be charged for food, drink and some of the activities.

This series will kick off on July 14, 2011 featuring “Smokey’s Farmland Band” along with some good old-fashioned farm style fun!  The young at heart can participate in sack races, tug of war, carnival games, pony rides and MUCH MORE!   Visit www.duluthga.net for more information.

About the Band

Smokey’s Farmland Band’s music is a great mixture of their favorite musical influences: bluegrass, funk, rock, reggae, Cajun, gypsy jazz, and progressive jams. While they enjoy venturing outside the realm of the traditional, they still respect the roots of bluegrass, and retain the energy and twang of mountain music, with songs often blending together in an exciting genre-bending style that keeps listeners on their toes.  Among many accomplishments, SFB recently opened for Willie Nelson at a sold out House Of Blues New Orleans event on Oct 14, 2010, and opened for Sam Bush at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta on Oct 21, 2010.  The band likes to travel and meet new people in new places. Their music is dedicated to: the festival experience, camping and dancing in community, out of the way places that retain their beauty, live performance, and people who appreciate getting back to the farm from time to time.
