Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Receives Awards

The Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA), District 7 held its annual banquet on Oct. 21, in Gainesville, Ga. GRPA presented the Volunteer Award to three staff members with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for providing assistance and resources to Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR) through multiple collaborations on events, programs and trainings. Annie Valenty, Community Outreach Liaison, Monica Griffin, Wellness Program Specialist, and Wendy Palmer, Child Wellness Manager are dedicated volunteers who are making positive impacts on Gwinnett County’s residents. Annie, Monica and Wendy have all played an important role of increasing awareness of GCPR’s community health initiative through Live Healthy Gwinnett.

The Facilities and Grounds Professional Award was presented to Darrin Bradley for the exceptional job at Bethesda Park, which is one of Gwinnett County’s most heavily utilized Youth and Adult Athletics Parks. Darrin was recognized for his great attitude, work ethic, attention to detail and his ability to rise to the challenge at all times. The Parks and Outdoors Professional Award was presented to Fernando Duarte for his positive enthusiasm and commitment to excellence, and the extensive involvement in the community and parks.
