According to Gwinnett Parks: “We’ve just check with our development department for the most current information. It seems that the skate complex, tennis courts, basketball courts and pavilion will be opening sometime in June, but no exact date has been set.”

When will there be ( or ever) a BMX track at a gwinnett county park? Doesn’t take up much space, can hold state, regional, and national races( revenue?). Currently there isn’t 1 BMX track in this area(and Gwinnett County is a big county).
Cobb County has 2 tracks at parks, and there is 2 tracks on the south side( Peachtree BMX(William B. Davis), and Mcdonough has 1 track.
As far as upkeep, the turns are asphalt, and the rest is dirt. I am sure there is some parents who would love to donate time and resources to this project.
As far as safety, it cannot be anymore unsafe than a concrete bowl, or quarter pipe, or handrail.
Check local race shcedules and you will see they race almost everyother weekend, and some run on the same weekend( and parents are going to both on the same day.) I think this county is missing out, along with our youth.

Oh, by the way. Most of your BMXers that attend the skate parks are the same that would attend the BMX track., but pay.

Obviously nobody is monitoring this site. No reply at all, and now it seems there will be only one NBL race track in the whole Atlanta area. The nearest track is Peachtree City BMX, with Augusta being second.
There are plenty of BMXers in this county and adjacent counties. Nobody is willing to even think about what could be.BUT they have no issues pointing fingers, and blaming the youth for gang problems, and vandalism.
Not to mention the added income to the park and recreation department. Can you say furloughs?
    Falling on deaf ears.

Actually I’ve been approving your comments on this site – which, is not affiliated with Gwinnett County Parks. However, I’ve passed along your comments to the department.

BTW, in 2008 there was a movement for a BMX park at Harbins Alcovy- just south of 316 in Dacula. That didn’t seem to gain enough support. In 2009 a BMX track and skate park was discussed for Cool Springs Park in Hall County. Not sure what happened there.

Gwinnett is one of the largest county in the state and have a BMX track if there support is there for it. There have been public meetings before on various parks. Short of Dacula I don’t recall any grass roots activities for creating a BMX track in the county.

Awesome!!..thanks for a reply. I seen the post for the meetings in 2008, but it was late 2009 when i seen them.

I am an old school racer with 2 boys who wanted to race. We have to travel to McDonough and Peachtree City to race NBL. The McDonough track is talking about switching sanctions and leaves only one NBL track left. Besides, there are alot of racers in Gwinnett county,Hall county, and South Carolina who would come to race.

There are National events, Regional events, and State Championship events that i am sure would inject some revenue into the local shops, restarants, and hotels.

I dont think they posted the meetings at Dacula in the right spot for support. It would be different a second go.

Hi, will we ever be getting a skate park on the north west side of Gwinnett? ie Suwanee. I have a boy who love to skateboard, but all the skate parks are a bit far from our location. Thanks!
