An Eco Adventure on the Chattahoochee River

Imagine your worries floating away as you float serenely down the Chattahoochee River at dusk.  As you unwind, you may encounter beavers, herons, kingfishers, hawks and other wildlife in the beautiful dusk hours on the river.  If you are interested in complete escape and relaxation, while learning about the wildlife ecology and history of the Chattahoochee River, consider the Chattahoochee Nature Center’s (CNC) Guided Canoe Trips your ticket to both.   Join the center’s trained naturalist and guide for an interactive, sunset or sunrise voyage down the Chattahoochee River, which the Native Americans named the River of the Painted Rock.   Learn interesting facts about the river, one of our region’s most important natural resources, and the plants and animals that call it home.  CNC’s naturalist can help you discover nature, experience a relaxing personal adventure and understand where the beavers lodge and where the herons swoop. You can also book your adventure on our new website at www.chattnaturecenter.org.

Canoe trips begin in May, 2009 and run Saturdays and Sundays starting at 6:00 pm, and then Fridays through Sundays in June, July and August, 2009. All trips are conditions permitting, and advance reservations are required. The center will also offer special first Thursday of the month canoe trips in June.  The cost of these two and a half hour trips is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.  Special CNC Member pricing will be offered during the month of May at only $20 per person!

Participants must be able to swim and paddle their own canoe, and be at least 6 years and up. No prior canoeing experience is necessary.  For more information or to register, call (770) 992-2055, ex. 237, or visit www.chattnaturecenter.org.
