The Marietta Parks and Recreation Department encourages seniors 50 and over to register before April 1 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for the 2009 Cobb County Senior Games, which will be held at various locations April 15-May 15.
The games, which promote “May is Older American Month,” provide seniors 50 and over an opportunity to participate in a variety of sports competitions, meet new people, learn new leisure skills, and become more aware of recreational opportunities available to them.
Other events
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in the men’s and women’s divisions. In golf, awards will be given for the first, second and third place winners in the Calloway System and low gross in the men’s and women’s divisions.
Sponsorships are available to businesses and organizations who are interested in the senior adult population of Cobb County. Sponsors will be recognized in all appropriate publicity, event programs, and on next year’s registration form. Sponsors will be classified as platinum, golden, silver, and bronze, based on their contribution level.

Sponsors can also receive visibility by using posters and banners at individual events, hosting a special activity, such as health screening, blood pressure checks, etc., or providing wellness or sports- and exercise-related information, or imprinted promotional favors.
Registration forms are available in the city’s Parks and Recreation Office, located on the third floor of City Hall, 205 Lawrence Street. Fees, proof of age and a signed, completed liability waiver form are due at registration.
